Homestays Morocco provides the perfect vacation for independent travellers and small groups who want a true cultural experience of Morocco at a reasonable price.

Stay with Berber families in the beautiful Tighza Valley, high in the Atlas Mountains, where you can enjoy the culture and lifestyle.

Riad Kasbah Oliver offers additional comfort whilst upholding the philosophy of Homestays.

Riad Kasbah Oliver is run by Mohamed and his brother Ahmed who were both born in Tighza. It was designed, by Mohamed's British wife, as both a home and a family run guesthouse.

Riad Kasbah Oliver and Homestays are sustainable tourism projects which directly benefit the host families and local communities.

We encourage guests to get involved with project work and the village to help improve the lives and environment of the people.

EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE in TIGHZA :- KASBAH AND HOMESTAYS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

At 11:11pm on 8 September 2023 a 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit Morocco.  The epicentre was in the High Atlas Mountains in an area not known for earthquakes.

Rural communities were badly hit and  villagers were living in damaged houses, unfinished houses that survived the quake or moved to  towns and cities temporarily to live with family or friends.  Most have now returned to the village while 1 bedroomed houses which the government has sanctioned are being built.  However most people have not had stage 2 approved yet so they only have the foundation plate in place.  Please follow us on Facebook Homestays Morocco & Riad Kasbah Oliver to keep abreast of the rebuilding of Tighza.

TO DONATE please contact us by email homestaysmorocco@googlemail.com if you are able to donate to assist a family to build an extra room.  Families as large as 19 people are being built 1 bedroomed homes in the Government rebuilding program,  to replace the much larger family homes they lost in the earthquake.

Still some families remain without the financial help offered by the Government and have no income to repair and earthquake proof or in many cases have to build a new home from scratch. We would really like to help some of these families in a neighbouring village who have been left with no financial package for repairs or rebuilding due to problems with the experts' dossiers created following the earthquake.  Rebuilding homes for large families will cost far more than rebuilding for smaller families and people who live alone.  Many live in extended family groups with up to 4 generations living in the same house.
